Cambridge ’99 Press Release – Relentless Performance in Champs Eights Head by Nines W1 and Mixed 8+ crews

This Sunday saw beautiful weather and the town and gown rowing clubs of Cambridge taking to the river to compete in the Champion of the Thames Eights Head Race. Nines entered two crews W1 and Mixed 8+, W1 who won their category in true Nines style finished the 1450m course in 5 minutes 33 seconds. The women’s top boat consisting of Abbey Child, Agnes Bolinska, Chrysa Litina, Laura Dallaway, Klaske van Marrum, Josie Harries, Linda Kitching, Camilla Fairbairn, coxed by Nadia Tsao and Coached by Mike Taylor and Stan, finished their race over 30 seconds ahead of City’s Women Oceans 8 crew. The Mixed 8+  crew consisting of Katie O’Brien, Simon Fitch, David Rigler, Michael Kennedy, Andy Cockayne, Paolo Santarone, Cristiano Lamarque, David Durrant and coxed by Sarah Matthews completed the course in 6 minutes and 14 seconds. The race was a great opportunity for the Nines rowers to dust off the regatta cobwebs, as they look to compete over the next two weeks at Nottingham Regatta, Peterborough Regatta and the Metropolitan Regatta.
