Ready to try something new? Our Adult Learn to Row Course is the perfect way to start your rowing journey on the Cam. For £130, you’ll get at least three 1.5-hour sessions with an experienced coach, working in groups of two so you get plenty of individual attention and time on the water.
Between outings, you’re welcome to join coached erg sessions with our friendly Progression Squad, a great way to build fitness, learn technique, and get a taste of the 99s community.
Sessions are arranged around your schedule and run throughout the year, so there’s no need to wait for the next season to begin. After completing the course, you’ll have the skills and confidence to join our Progression Squad and continue your rowing journey.

Ready to take to the Cam? Our Adult Sculling Courses are perfect for beginners and improvers alike, led by top coaches using excellent equipment.
You’ll start in an Explorer sculling boat, which is super stable and ideal for getting used to the blades and balance. Once confident, your coach will move you into a fine racing shell, guiding you up the river, teaching navigation rules, and refining your technique.
When you’re signed off, you’ll have independent access to the 99s fleet of fine sculling boats, free to row whenever the river calls.

Learn to Cox
Step into the driver’s seat of the boat! Coxing is one of the most dynamic and rewarding roles in rowing, blending leadership, communication, and strategy with all the camaraderie of the crew.
Our Learn to Cox Programme runs from spring to autumn, teaching you how to steer, call commands, and navigate the Cam safely. You’ll start in a training tub, then progress to coxing your first crew, with an experienced bank party guiding you every step of the way.
Once you’re part of the squad, our ongoing coxing development programme will help you grow in confidence, sharpen your calls, and lead your crew to victory.
